"I have been planning to do this project for the last 10 years and have only now finally got around to it. I really wanted to get it done - before my kids were too old and not interested or leaving home.

The layout idea came from similar ones you can buy, but are much smaller. I wanted something that had a bigger run so the chickens can run around when they are locked in the cage. I also wanted it to stand the test of time and I think that nothing looks better than the rustic wooden look.

I built it the way I did because I wanted it to be snake, mice and dog proof. I also wanted it to be easy to clean with easy access doors to the nesting and roosting areas of the pen.
Thanks to Westside Timbers for the supply of a great quality product and wonderful service, after two weeks of building – we have a finished product to house our chickens.
